  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • ½ cup dry apple vinegar or beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 12 oz pasta (rigatoni, penne, or spaghetti)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic in the skillet until softened; stir in tomato paste and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes and apple vinegar; add oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes.
  4. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese; simmer for another 5 minutes until heated through.
  5. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente; drain and toss with the sauce until well combined.
  6. Serve topped with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs.
