Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely grated
1 large egg
4 tablespoons butter (for frying and gravy)
3 cups beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk; let sit for 5 minutes.
Add ground beef, grated onion, egg, garlic powder, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a plate.
In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches until browned on all sides (about 6–8 minutes). Transfer to a plate.
In the same skillet, melt remaining butter; whisk in flour to form a roux. Gradually add beef broth until smooth.
Stir in heavy cream; simmer until thickened (about 5 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
Return meatballs to skillet; simmer for another 10 minutes until cooked through.
