Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla extract, and milk; mix until combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough, flatten it slightly, and place a piece of chocolate in the center. Wrap the dough around the chocolate completely.
  6. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart and bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  7. Cool for about 5 minutes before serving warm; optionally dust with powdered sugar.
